The University of Sydney

The University of Sydney was the first university to be established in Australia. The University has attained an international reputation for outstanding teaching, as a centre of research excellence and as an active and engaged community leader.

Now ranking 31 in the world, according to the Times Higher Education Supplement, the University conducts cutting­edge research across the broadest range of disciplines of any Australian university and regularly wins more government funding for research than other Australian universities. The University offers four of Australia's premier Centres of Excellence, hosts two Major National Research Facilities and is an active participant in 22 Cooperative Research Centres.

Along with membership of the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU), the University of Sydney is a key member of the Group of Eight leading Australian research­intensive universities, the Worldwide Universities Network (WUN) and Academic Consortium 21 (AC21).
