The Department of State and Regional Development is the NSW Government’s business development agency.
We provide expert advice on advancing business development in both metropolitan and regional NSW and deliver programs and services to implement the Government’s commitment to winning new business activity for the state and increasing the capacity of Australia’s largest and most diverse state economy.
The Department is also the force behind international promotion of the Sydney brand. We participate in signature events such as G’Day USA, coordinate international missions and promotions, and recently established the www.sydneyaustralia.com website, which promotes the advantages of Sydney for business, study and tourism and highlights the city’s enviable lifestyle.
To meet the challenge of improving economic growth in a competitive national and international environment, we continuously refine our activities. Our focus is on key sectors that will sustain highskilled, exportoriented industries with the potential for innovationdriven growth. These include manufacturing, financial services and the creative industries.
Our clients span domestic and international companies as well as industry peak bodies, professional associations, tertiary and research institutions and government authorities. We work in partnership with business agencies to strengthen the state’s international competitiveness and take a wholeofgovernment approach to our role under the NSW State Plan, which sets priorities and targets for government action for the next 10 years.
